Simplify cube views with the bench.
Hide dimensions you rarely change.
Does your cube view contain too many dimension tiles? Move context dimensions you rarely change to the bench. Their selections still apply to the view, leaving more room in the overview for the dimensions you work with every day.
The short answer
Open the three-dot menu next to the dimension and choose Move to bench. Use the eye icon to open the bench and access the hidden dimension again.

Keep a fixed measure out of the way.

Set the required measure.
Check which member the view should use.
Place the tile on the bench.
The overview becomes shorter. The dimension still belongs to the cube.
Access it through the eye icon.
When you need another measure, open the bench again.

Any questions?
Is the dimension deleted from the cube?
No. You change how the view is displayed. The dimension and its data remain in the cube.
Does the member selection still apply?
Yes. A benched dimension remains part of the view context. Check its selection if the displayed values are not what you expected.
Is the bench the Modeling Workbench?
The bench holds hidden dimensions in a cube view. The Modeling Workbench is the environment used for modelling. In the German video, the menu label for moving a dimension to the bench is “Zur Workbench verschieben”.
