IBM PLANNING ANALYTICS · TI PROCESSES · SPLIT VIEW

Split View in the process editor.
Two sections in view at once.

Long TI processes often require you to move between the Prolog, Metadata and Data procedures. Split View divides the process editor into two panes, so you can edit one section while keeping another in view.

The short answer

Open your TI process and click Split View. Both panes show the same process and can be scrolled independently. The feature is available from PAW 2.1.18.

Read the video summary

The video demonstrates Split View in the TM1 process editor. Open a process and choose Split View. You can then develop in the left pane while referring to another section of the same process on the right, reducing repeated scrolling between sections.

IN PLANNING ANALYTICS WORKSPACE

One process. Two views.

01

Open the process

Open the TI process in the modeling workbench.

02

Enable Split View

Click Split View in the process editor. In the German video, the command is called Ansicht teilen. A second script pane appears next to the first.

03

Work with two sections side by side

Scroll each pane to the section you need. For example, keep the Prolog visible while working in the Data procedure. Both panes belong to the same process.

LESS SCROLLING, MORE CONTEXT

Edit on the left. Refer on the right.

The split view is particularly useful when you need information from another procedure while editing.

REFER

Keep the Prolog in view.

Refer to a variable set in the Prolog while editing its use in the Data procedure.

NAVIGATE

Reduce repeated scrolling.

Position the two panes independently to keep your reference section visible.

EDIT

Work on the same process.

Split View does not create a second copy of the process. It shows different sections of the same script.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Any questions?

IBM lists the feature from Planning Analytics Workspace 2.1.18 or 3.1.5. Check your PAW version. How to find your version number ↗

Is the split layout saved?

No. If you close and reopen the workbench, enable Split View again when needed.

How does Split View differ from Diff View?

Split View shows different sections of the same process side by side. Diff View compares unsaved changes with the saved version.
