IBM PLANNING ANALYTICS · RULES · FEEDERS · SPLIT VIEW

Split View in the rules editor.
Rules and feeders in view.

Editing a feeder while referring to the corresponding rule? Split View divides the rules editor into two panes. Keep the calculation visible on the left while, for example, working on the feeder on the right.

The short answer

Open the rule in the modeling workbench and click Split View. The editor displays two sections of the same rules script side by side. The feature is available from PAW 2.1.22 or 3.1.9.

Read the video summary

From PAW 2.1.22, Split View is also available in the rules editor. The video shows how to open a rule and use the Split View button. You can then refer to the rule on the left while editing a feeder on the right. Split View is also available in the process editor; see the related article below.

IN PLANNING ANALYTICS WORKSPACE

One rules script. Two views.

01

Open the rule

Open the rule in the modeling workbench.

02

Enable Split View

Click Split View at the top of the rules editor. A second script pane appears next to the first.

03

Work with rules and feeders side by side

Position the rule on the left and its corresponding feeder on the right. The calculation stays visible while you edit the feeder.

LESS SCROLLING, MORE CONTEXT

Rule on the left. Feeder on the right.

A practical use case from the video: keep the calculation logic in view while editing its corresponding feeder alongside it.

REFER

Keep the calculation visible.

Keep the rule visible on the left while editing its feeder on the right.

NAVIGATE

Reduce repeated scrolling.

Use the two panes for sections that are far apart in the script.

EDIT

One shared script.

Both panes belong to the same rule. Split View does not create a second copy.
