Open the set editor and check the selected dimension and hierarchy. The default sets apply to that hierarchy.

Use default sets in IBM Planning Analytics.
All members. Just leaves. Or the top level.
You do not need a custom set to make an initial member selection. The default sets in the set editor let you switch between the root members, all members and leaf members of the selected hierarchy.
The short answer
Open the list of available sets in the set editor. Choose All roots for the top level, All members for the entire hierarchy or All leaves for members without children.

Do I need to create these sets first?
No. These three system selections are available in the set editor. Create a named set when you want to keep a custom selection.
Are all leaf members at the same visible depth?
No. Branches in a hierarchy can have different depths. A leaf member is identified by having no children.
How do I select members below a specific parent?
