Already have your members in a file? Use the file import in Planning Analytics Workspace to import a prepared parent-child structure and its attributes. The video creates a country dimension with German and English aliases.

Create a dimension and upload your CSV file. Check the preview, create the alias attributes you need and map the Parent, Child and alias columns. Then start the import.

Any questions?
Do I need to enter aliases one by one?
No. If the file contains alias values, map those columns to the corresponding alias attributes during import.
Do I always need a parent-child file?
These steps use a parent-child structure. Planning Analytics also supports other file layouts, such as a simple member list. Choose the mapping that matches your file.
When is manual creation useful?
For a small number of members, you can create the dimension directly in the editor. A prepared file is useful for longer lists or when you also want to import attributes.
