IBM PLANNING ANALYTICS · SETS · MEMBER SELECTION

Select members faster in the set editor.
Build the right selection in a few clicks.

Want to include a group of members without selecting each one individually? The insertion options in the IBM Planning Analytics set editor let you choose a member together with its children, descendants, leaf members or ancestors.

The short answer

Select a starting member and choose the appropriate insertion option. Add the selection to the current set. Children are directly below the selected member; descendants include the levels further down.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Any questions?

What is the difference between children and descendants?

Children are one hierarchy level below the selected member. Descendants also include further levels below it, so the selections differ in a multilevel structure.

How do I select all leaf members in the hierarchy?

Use the All leaves default set for the selected hierarchy. Compare the three default sets.

Can I save the selection for later?

Yes. Save it with a suitable name as a private or public set. Learn how the two options differ.
