Open the cube view
Open the cube view and hover over a member name. The default tooltip shows the member unique name, including its dimension and hierarchy context.

A technical member name often says very little. With configurable tooltips in Planning Analytics Workspace, you can show a descriptive alias when someone hovers over a member. This makes cube views easier to understand, even when they contain many abbreviations.
The short answer
Open your cube view. Right-click the header cell above or to the left of the member names and select Configure tooltip. Choose the attribute you want to display and confirm with OK. Available from PAW 2.1.19 or 3.1.6.

Configure the tooltip
Right-click the header cell above or to the left of the member names. Select Configure tooltip, then choose an attribute such as an alias. Confirm with OK.
Check the result
Hover over a member name again. The tooltip now shows the selected attribute value. Check a few other members to see whether the information you need has been maintained.
A SIMPLIFIED EXAMPLE
From a code to a meaningful label.
The fictional product P100 has the alias “Energy Drink Original”. Select this alias attribute as the tooltip to give users a meaningful description on hover.

Which version supports configurable tooltips?
The feature is available from Planning Analytics Workspace 2.1.19 or 3.1.6. Your PAW version is the one to check. Here is how to find your version number.
What happens if the attribute is empty?
If a member has no value for the selected attribute, the tooltip displays the member unique name instead.
Can I use attributes other than aliases?
Yes. Choose the information your users need from the available attributes or member properties, such as a descriptive text.
